UNDISCOVERED: Solo Exhibit 2024
“UNDISCOVERED,” encapsulates Erika Kasuga’s imaginative journey through the interplay of life forms and the ever-changing nature of existence. Her work delves into birth, coexistence, and death, focusing particularly on the undiscovered and the imaginary. Each piece in this exhibition is a testament to Erika’s creative process, which embraces the natural spontaneity and serendipity inherent in art. The intricate lines and free-flowing designs reveal her fascination with life and its myriad forms, as seen through the lens of her imagination. Her work draws inspiration from prehistoric cave paintings and ceremonial art, depicting a multitude of unknown creatures that inhabit her mind. These creatures symbolize the intricate components of an ecosystem and the universe itself. They echo the complex and continuous “act of living and dying” from ancient times to the present. Pulling inspiration from the centuries of artists that have come before her, Erika’s art stems from the understanding that much of the future is rooted within the past. Each creature, each line, and each splash of color symbolizes the interconnected dance of life, death, and rebirth, both in nature and within her own artistic journey.
